"Conservation Grade farming means Nature Friendly Food"

Verification of Compliance

Farms are assessed for compliance with the Conservation Grade Standards and Protocol in two separate parts:

1. The Guild of Conservation Grade Farming audit

Annual Guild audits are carried out on all farms by NSF-CMi Certification.
Nsf-CMi certification also currently audit in excess of twenty schemes on UK farms covering most farm enterprises from the Assured Combinable Crops Scheme (ACCS) with over 12,000 members to The Safe Haven Seed Potato Scheme with 52 members. All in all NSF-CMi carries out over 35,000 audits on UK farms making NSF-CMi the largest auditing and certification body in the UK.

2. Habitat Assessment

20 % of CG farmers are visited annually by independent trained assessors who assess habitat area compliance and individual habitat quality.
CG farmers are required to complete & return a pre-habitat assessment form to Conservation Grade prior to the visit.
The purpose of the habitat assessment is to ensure that Conservation Grade growers are delivering high quality habitats according to the CG standards and to identify if any support is required for the farmer. Delivery of high quality habitats will ensure delivery of wildlife as shown in our research.
